CSR & PRO BONO

Responsibility extends beyond client work.

A legal institution operates within a wider professional and social environment. Its responsibilities therefore extend beyond the matters for which it is formally instructed.

At Algharib & Partners LLC, that broader responsibility is reflected through professional development, legal awareness, community contribution and, where appropriate, pro bono legal support.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY

Part of the profession. Part of the community.

Legal practice carries responsibilities that are not measured only by the outcome of individual matters.

Lawyers contribute to the development of the profession, the understanding of law and the communities in which they practise.

Our approach distinguishes between broader corporate and professional responsibility and pro bono legal work, while recognising that both reflect a commitment to meaningful participation beyond commercial practice.

TWO DISTINCT RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribution and access. Related, but not the same.

01 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Contributing beyond the matter.

CSR can include professional development, legal awareness, education, community participation and other initiatives through which the firm and its people contribute beyond ordinary client engagements.

02 PRO BONO

Legal support where it can matter.

Pro bono work is different. It concerns the use of legal knowledge and professional time to provide legal assistance outside the ordinary commercial basis where circumstances and professional considerations make that appropriate.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Strengthening the profession from within.

Responsibility to the profession includes helping knowledge and experience move forward.

Training, mentorship, professional discussion and opportunities for younger legal professionals to participate meaningfully all contribute to a stronger legal community.

For Algharib & Partners LLC, developing people is therefore not separate from institutional development. It is part of it.

LEGAL AWARENESS

Understanding law should not be unnecessarily difficult.

Legal knowledge has value beyond the immediate client matter.

Articles, professional discussions, educational initiatives and public legal awareness can help individuals and businesses better understand the legal environment around them.

This does not replace individual legal advice. It contributes to a more informed professional and public conversation.

WHERE CONTRIBUTION CAN TAKE PLACE

Different forms. One wider responsibility.

01

Mentorship

Supporting the development of younger lawyers and legal professionals.

02

Legal Awareness

Contributing to greater understanding of legal issues through professional and educational activity.

03

Professional Dialogue

Participating in discussions, forums and initiatives that contribute to the wider legal community.

04

Legal Support

Considering appropriate opportunities for legal assistance outside the ordinary commercial framework.

PRO BONO

Professional support with professional safeguards.

Pro bono work remains legal work and must be approached with the same professional standards as any other matter.

Appropriate legal assessment, confidentiality, conflicts considerations and professional responsibility continue to apply.

The nature and availability of any pro bono assistance therefore depends on the individual circumstances and the firm's ability to accept the matter.

OUR PRINCIPLES

Contribution should be meaningful and responsible.

01 Relevance

Focus contribution where legal knowledge, experience or professional participation can add value.

02 Responsibility

Maintain professional standards regardless of whether the activity is commercial.

03 Development

Support the transfer of knowledge and experience to future legal professionals.

04 Continuity

Treat professional contribution as part of long-term institutional responsibility.

BEYOND CLIENT WORK

A legal institution should contribute as well as practise.

Professional knowledge creates opportunities to support people, strengthen the profession and contribute to the wider environment in which the law operates.
